Making soap is aligned to chemical experimentation. Of course, we are producing soaps which are organic and free from sulfates and additives which can damage our skin. If you have read about the start of Tattooed Giraffe, you recall that this business was started to share my work to help those with tattoos and other health-related skin conditions, to have a healthy choice for skin care. There are truly endless possible combinations, from base soaps, to fragrances, to colors. I have purchased more than 100 soap molds, and continue to watch for new ideas and designs which are selling fast. I know that I cannot be all things to all people, but I do want to keep up with what consumers want.
The next evolution of Tattooed Giraffe Organic Soaps is the small batch creation of Body Wash. Several customers have asked if I can make some body wash, so I thought I would give it a whirl. I did some research and learned that liquid bases are available, which allow you to experiment with colors and fragrances. Just like the investments for molds and shrink wrap processing, the body wash game involves bottles, caps and labeling. The soap molds really set the benchmark for ounces and cost. Body wash is limited by bottle size and going prices, although again, this phase of the soap creation will be done without harmful additives. I will remain true to small production, and perfecting my recipes to meet customer interest. While tattooed customers are my priority, these body wash collections can be used by Virgin Canvasses alike.
For the last two months, I believe I have established three Aloe Base Body Wash recipes that have been bottled and will be sold in the online store. I truly believe the Aloe base is one of the best starter soaps. While Shea Butter adds softness, I believe the Aloe base is more rounded for skin health. Once these soaps catch on with consumers, I may branch out to other bases. I had a specific request for Lavender, and I love the citrus scents, so I developed a Citron, and finally a beach/ocean scent I have named Zephyr (“a gentle breeze”). Pictures to follow.
I have also added a local pickup for folks who are close to my area in Western New York. This should also save you some money on postage.
