About Us

In 2010, I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis. My skin had gotten so bad, it was coming off in scaley sections. If I placed my elbows down on something hard, without remembering the scales, my elbows would split open and bleed. It was incredibly painful. It prompted me to attend my first (of many) dermatologist appointments. The doctor did some testing and bloodwork, to discover that I had the disease. My skin was truly a mess.  I began all the "potions and lotions" as I like to call them, with little progress. I was then prescribed a daily pill which held my psoriasis at bay, for several years. I was careful about what soaps and body washes I used, and tried to eat healthier and exercise more. My joints were also very affected.

Have you ever read and researched the chemicals that are found in bar soaps and body washes?  It is scary.  Do you know what the biggest organ is in the human body?  It's your skin. Everything that gets on your skin eventually makes its way into your body.  Chemicals are dangerous, and especially the ones added to soap to make it lather, have antibacterial qualities, and look and smell so pretty. I began to read labels and stay away from those substances that were likely wreaking havoc on my body.  Triclosan can cause cancer.  "Fragrances" are not regulated by the FDA, and can contain anything. Parabens contain estrogen-like properties which have been linked to breast cancer and tumors. Formaldehyde is another chemical linked to cancer, and there are many others you should research. If you are not a label reader, you may want to think twice about making sure your soap does not have these toxins in it. Remember, what you put on your skin and scalp, ultimately enters your body.  This is why I researched, developed, and started using Organic Soaps.

As I was keeping my psoriasis in check, I also began the tattoo process for an entire arm sleeve.  At several points during the two year process, my tattoo artist was forced to stop his work, as I was experiencing psoriasis "breakouts". I was determined to finish the sleeve and heal my skin. This began with increased monitoring of the soaps and lotions I was using, and ensuring the tattoos would continue to be protected. Did you know that the chemicals in mass-produced soap and bodywashes strip your skin and fade your tattoo? Neither did I...

The Tattooed Giraffe Organic Soaps journey began on October 23, 2023 when I made a commitment to market my soaps to others who shared my love of tattoos and want to protect and preserve them. Organic soaps do not fade or damage your tattoos, which helps to ensure your body art remains bold and colorful.  Our soaps do not contain any hazardous substances, and are the perfect soaps to safely maintain your body art. I hope you enjoy them, as much as I do.
