How Do I Know Which Base To Choose?

Our soap bases have some common traits. Each of them are designed to bring moisture to your skin, and to be free from all chemical additives. Individual bases are described here:

  • Aloe Vera contains saponins, which have a natural cleansing effect. This means that aloe vera in soap is great for killing bacteria that cause breakouts. These antibacterial properties also make aloe vera a great choice to prevent infection of irritated skin.

  • Goat Milk is rich in lactic acid, which helps to exfoliate dead skin cells and reveal a new layer. It contains the same pH as human skin, which helps keep the microbiome of your skin well-balanced and prevent visible signs of irritation, sensitivity, and premature aging.

  • Glycerin easily penetrates the skin and fills in fine lines and promotes skin regeneration. Glycerin soaps are suitable for mature, oily, and acne-prone skin types. They are effective on dry and sensitive skin.

  • Shea Butter is a luxurious way to keep your body and face soft, clean, moisturized and healthy. Skin care experts recommend this natural product for consumers who want the best quality health-enhancing ingredients that are good for their body as well as pleasant on sensitive or dry skin types.

We strongly encourage you to ask your dermatologist to recommend a base which is best suited for your skin type.

Do All of the Soaps Come in Every Type of Base?

Unfortunately, they do not. The design preference is changed up on a regular basis, and coincides with available soap base inventories and market stock. If you would like to request a specialized combination, please contact us and we will ask the designers and production assistants if your request is possible.

What Essential Oil Should I Choose?

The essential oil(s) choice is a personal preference. Most customers choose the scent they are most familiar with. We would encourage you to experiment with different oils.  Of course, anyone can have an allergy to particular oils, so we urge you to be cautious with your experimentation. We use only premium quality essential oils, and have added citrus scents to energize, lavender oils to calm and others based upon consumer or designer preference. We hope you enjoy the scent you receive.

How Long Should My Bar of Soap Last?

Our 4 oz. organic soap lasts approximately 30 days when used everyday. It is vital that the bar be allowed to drain and dry, and be free from standing water or continued exposure to water (floating in the tub or draining in the shower, but exposed to water splash while others are showering.) If this practice of proper draining is not followed, the bar will get mushy and begin to deteriorate.

What is a Loofa Slice?

Loofas are tropical vines in the cucumber family. The vine produces gourds which are cleaned and dried, and sold for their absorbent and scrubbing properties. We add a slice of loofa to various soap designs, so the customer may use the soap on one side to lather their skin, and flip the bar over to use the loofa to gently exfoliate their skin. Loofa is known to be fibrous in its texture, but gentle for removing the buildup of dead skin cells which naturally accumulate on the surface of your skin. Soaps that contain a loofa slice will be identified.

What Do You Use To Harden The Soap?

All of our soap recipes use Beeswax to harden the bar. We do not use any hazardous chemicals in our recipes,  That being said, our soap bars are much softer and do not lather as much as industrial created soaps which have these lathering chemicals added.

Why Does It Seem Like Your Soap Does Not Fully Lather?

When soap recipes are produced as "Organic", it means that hazardous chemicals are not included. These chemicals are used to harden soap and cause them to increase their ability to lather. The chemicals are very harmful to your skin and body, and we don't use them!

Do You Add Flowers or Herbs to Your Soap Mix?

We do not add flowers or herbs to the soap. We keep the recipe simple and maintain the organic process of ingredients. Unless we grew the flowers or herbs directly, we would be unable to ensure their authenticity as being free from in-organic additives or pesticides.

Can Children Use Your Soap?

Tattooed Giraffe Organic Soaps are not recommended for children. As previously stated, our soaps are for mature skin. We have specifically chosen to market our soaps to adults who are interested in preserving and protecting their body art.

If You Identify as Organic Soap, Why Did My Order Come Wrapped in Plastic?

Our soap must be wrapped in non-porous wrap as soon as possible, after the hardening process. We apologize for the limits in our commitment to our Green Footprint. The plastic wrap is used to ensure the soap is properly protected, and we hope you will choose to recycle it. In NYS, where we are located, certain retail stores and most grocery stores are required to collect film plastics from customers for recycling. Stores must make film plastics recycling collection bins available to customers in visible, easily accessible locations. Please check your State Regulations regarding recycling. Rest assured that we are keeping up with the technology, and will introduce other packaging options when they are proven to not compromise our products.
